I cannot add contact in FaceTime on iPad Pro.  Name of new contact is not highlited

it is not possible to add a new contact in FaceTime on my iPad Pro. The name from the List of Contacts appear in the left column, but is not highlighted In blue like the other 5 contacts. The strange thing is that this person is ablle to contact me using FaceTime on his iPhone 6. Who can help solving this Facetime bug (?).

I have removed the contact and added it again, as I have done a couple of times before.

It did not work out. Of the four icons shown at the top, only two were highlghted : bericht (message in Dutch) and e-mail. The other two icons (bel (call in Dutch) and video were NOT highlighted.

Only when the icon : ‘video’ is changed to ‘Facetime’, is the Contact added to FaceTime. (See photos below !).

I hope to receive an instruction that will sort effect.
