Background. I have iPhone, iPad and iMac. running 10.13.6. Ordinarily, my email accurately syncs across platforms. When away from home I use the iPad and iPhone for email. However, when I am away from home for a long period, 2-3 weeks, my iMac does not deal with the mail that I had already opened and dealt with while on the trip (using my iPhone and iPad).

If I understand your post correctly, when you are away from home for more than a few days your iMac does not reflect changes made to Mail from your iPad or iPhone. I understand how important it is to keep your devices in sync. I'd like to help.
Let's try updating your accounts. Open Mail, click Mailbox > Synchronize All Accounts.

Becky. My mail>mailbox drop down does not contain a “synchronize all accounts” tab. In my IMAC. I does contain a synchronize google option. Is that it?
