When I connect the Camera Adapter with a USB stick containing photos, the Photo App Import opens but tells me there are ‘No photos to import’. The stick is formatted correctly and the photos have 8 digit names.
Attaching the Adapter to my previous iPad (iOS 10.3.3) in the same way, and the photo app opens and brings up the photos on the stick.
Is this a deliberate change for iOS 12?

I, too, was coming up with the error on my Canon 80D and iOS 12.1. I found, however, if I connected the ipad last, with the camera connected to the cable and turned on, I can see them.... Worth a try! P.S., the adapter updated as soon as I connected; I don’t know what version it updated to, though. How do I tell?
One thing I have found since my original posting - to add the power to the adapter - if I use the large ipad charger not any other one (apple or other make) it seems to work and opens photo to download the pictures.
Can any one else try this?
I am having the same problem. All the devices that I updated to iOS 12 do not support the lightning to usb Camera Adapter. I have tried on 2 different iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPad Air and iPad Air 2. None of them work. It just says no photos. I try on an older device they only supports iOS 11 and it works fine. Apple needs to fix their iOS 12 update.
