Screenshot, grab etc only takes pic of blank screen

On up to date MacBook Pro. I recently cleaned up my computer with MacKeeper and I think I must have deleted something that is needed for screenshots.

Hitting cmd, shift, 3 (or 4, and using the Grab utility, or screen capture from iMessage) takes a picture that does show up on my desktop with proper windows in it, but they are blank. I have tried restarting my computer, have tried to use the Grab utility, etc. all with same results.

I don't know what file I need to replace to fix this. Again, the screenshot DOES happen, but the windows are blank (but each window is there).

Help??

com.mackeeper.MacKeeperPrivilegedHelper.plist (KROMTECH ALLIANCE CORP. - installed 2018-08-14)

You've installed what is considered around here to be one of the worst malware apps.

Read this user tip and 3rd party articles:

Do not install MacKeeper

MacKeeper could have deleted necessary system files so you may have to reinstall the system.

After removing all vestiges of MacKeeper, boot \ into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and try some screenshots.

If it still doesn't work correctly download and apply the macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 Combo Update.

If that doesn't work boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and reinstall the system.

Like dialabrain said MacKeeper is considered malware around here. In the event it deleted system files I would download and run the latest High Sierra Combo updater: macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 Combo Update.

And get rid of MacKeeper:

Manual Uninstall Mackeeper

MacKeeper is proving to be controversial. Here's how to remove MacKeeper from your Mac:

  1. Open MacKeeper.
  2. Quit MacKeeper.
  3. Open the Applications folder and drag MacKeeper to the Trash.
  4. Enter your admin password.
  5. A pop-up window appears asking if you want to Uninstall the rest of the components.
  6. Click Uninstall MacKeeper.
  7. Choose Go > Go to Folder from Finder.
  8. Enter ~/Library/Application Support.
  9. Find a file called NoticeEngine.plugin. Drag it to the Trash.
  10. Restart your Mac (Apple > Restart).

In the future do not use any "cleaning", "optimizing', "speedup" or anti-virus software. They are not necessary and only lighten your bank account and compromise system and application performance.
