iPhone Xs Hotspot Will Not Turn On

My option for hotspot says set up hotspot and will not enable. I called my carrier and they said hotspot services are turned on in their system. They also read a statement to me that said the hotspot function on the iPhone Xs and Xs Max are having issues with certain carriers and will not enable. They also stated that this is an apple issue and will require a firmware update to enable. I have reset network settings, the phone, restored, and set up as new. Nothing works. Any truth to this statement and anyone else experiencing this? For information purposes, my carrier is Spectrum Mobile.

Another user posted a temp solution that works: Going to the 12.1 Beta 5 public beta does fix the problem. I updated this morning and the hotspot options now properly display and work. Got to beta.apple.com to learn how to get access to the beta IOS.

As of 10/23, Spectrum is saying this is an IOS issue and that a fix should be released EOM October. Yesterday they told me to power down, go outside my house, remove and replace the SIM card, and power back on. That did not work. Today they are simply saying it's an IOS problem that is not unique to Spectrum. Should have probably stayed with Verizon😠

I finally figured out a solution. I went back to Verizon Wireless. Saving $40 a month is not worth beta testing a wireless carrier. I’ll just stick with what has worked.

Same issue, same carrier. Tech support did not know what a hotspot is. After resetting network settings, it says to contact Spectrum to enable hotspot on the account. I suspect the issue is with Spectrum.

Hi, I’m in the same boat. Was given the same answer from customer service and from the tech support folks. I have a XS Max that was set up as a new phone, no restore of previous settings from my old X to avoid any issues. Still didn’t work. Resetting network settings does not work either.

I think you are correct. Speaking to Spectrum, they really are clueless. I know they are new to the game, but hiring reps who can understand basic tech is key.
