AppleID privacy request activities are being sent to wrong email address

Hi

I recently stumbled across the Data and Privacy section in Apple's website and found i could download a copy of all the data Apple hold on me.

I've selected a number of areas to get information from and commenced the "preparing data" part of the task.

I received a confirmation email that the download was being prepared but the confirmation email was sent to an account which has no link to my registered Apple ID email address - which given it's a privacy download is somewhat concerning!

My Apple ID my email address is in the format <name>@<myowndomain.co.uk> and when I check the 'reachable at' details in my Apple ID page it only lists that email and an iCloud email address as the contactable addresses to use.

The Privacy email was sent in relation to this Apple ID, but to my work email address which is in the format <name>@uk.<employer>.com.

I cannot find any reference to the work email address within my Apple ID settings and can only assume that at one point I'd provided it as a recovery email address in case of a lockout but have subsequently updated it?

Fortunately it's my work email address, and I can pick up the download files link from it once the privacy preparation is completed, but given it is about Privacy it's somewhat concerning that all my details have been set to another email account with apparently no current link between the two.

The only place the two email accounts co-exist is on my iPhone where I have personal and work emails sent.

Any one else had a similar experience, or knows where else I can find email addresses linked to my Apple ID account other than appleid.apple.com?

Cheers Eric

I’ve just discovered that whilst all contact details / email addresses are shown in the ‘Account’ section of appleid.apple.com, in the security section it doesn’t list all the fields until you click the edit button.

When you click Edit the displayed fields change from ‘Password, Trusted phone numbers, 2-factor and app-specific’ to also include a ‘notification email’ address section - which isn’t allowed to be the same address as the Apple ID.

Have updated it now!

Many thanks for your quick response to my user error!!

Kind regards

Matt
