iPhone 6s and iOS 12?

I never updated the OS on my iPhone 6s past iOS 10.3.3 because of all of the problems I saw other were having with iOS 11. I now see others having problem with iOS 12. Should I update?

Also I have not been able to connect any Bluetooth devices to my phone. I can connect all of them to my iPad so the problem doesn't relate to the Bluetooth devices.

Thanks.

I upgraded to 12.0 and then to 12.0.1 and so far haven't had any problems except that now I can't connect my iPhone to to my iMac to back it up using iTunes. When I connect the phone to the iMac I get the message that'"A software update is required to connect.." to my computer. It doesn't say what the update is and when I click on learn more. It also says that there may be a problem with the security software I have. The iMac is running Mac OS 10.11.6 because I din't want to go to the next version which will make some of my apps unusable.

I have backed up my phone to iCloud and would also want to back it up to my Imac. When I connect the phone to the computer it says that "Click Install to download and install the software so your Mac can update or sync your iOS device."

But does not say what that update is. If it is the next OS I do not want to do that but several of my applications will not work with that. Can i just update iTunes?

You can only download the latest version of iTunes if your computer meets these requirements:

Hardware:

  • Mac computer with an Intel processor
  • To play 720p HD video, an iTunes LP, or iTunes Extras, a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor is required
  • To play 1080p HD video, a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 2GB of RAM is required
  • Screen resolution of 1024x768 or greater; 1280x800 or greater is required to play an iTunes LP or iTunes Extras
  • Internet connection to use Apple Music, the iTunes Store, and iTunes Extras
  • Apple combo drive or SuperDrive to create audio, MP3, or backup CDs; some non-Apple CD-RW recorders may also work. Songs from the Apple Music catalog cannot be burned to a CD.

Software:

  • OS X version 10.10.5 or later
  • 400MB of available disk space
  • Apple Music, iTunes Store, and iTunes Match availability may vary by country
  • Apple Music trial requires sign-up and is available for new subscribers only. Plan automatically renews after trial.
