High Sierra Permissions problem

Just noticed this, couldn't write a file to the hard drive without entering authentication. I went to users and groups and gave Admin (me) approval for read and write, and now I can write to the Users folder. But can't write a file outside of the Users folder still without authenticating.

I notice when i do Get Info on the Macintosh HD that admin is not listed among the list with various permissions (read, read & write etc) I tried adding Admin but it says I don't have permission.

Not sure what to do next?

iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12.3)

As of High Sierra, the root level of the hard drive is protected by SIP. The permissions set for the root level only allow root to write to that area, but you can authenticate.

There is nothing to do or change unless you want to disable SIP.
