Messages on iPhone not appearing on Mac

After following various threads with similar issues, I have logged out of messages, rebooted both Mac and iPhone, verified iCloud - iTunes user is the same across devices.

After logging out of AppleID in messages and turning off iMessages, on reboot I get the message "messages in icloud not available as icloud and imessage accounts do not match"

iPhone XS.

Deleting a lot of messages from my iPhone does not alter the message storage space in iCloud.

Same problem occurring with my wife's MacBook Air and iPhone 7.

Help please.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

You posted your iCloud-iTunes user is the same. Are you also using the same Apple ID to log into Messages?

I have the exact same problem, tried everything with no success. All worked good before, and some day just stopped.

Was able to resolve my issue with Apple support, I think I somehow blocked my Apple ID from iMessages, and the only way to fix it was with support.

Are you using a different Apple ID to sign into iCloud than you are using for Messages? Have you tried signing out and back in in both Messages and iCloud?

Yes definitely the exact same Apple ID. Yes signed in and out of both the Apple ID and the iMessages. After signing back into Imessage is when I got the first error I shared.
