Guided Access disable screen sleep

After a while it went out again. So the bug isn't fixed yet!

Last week an update was released but this issue has not been solved on mine, can you confirm it still occurs on yours too ?

Same issue here. I just updated to 12.1.2 and still having issues. Devices stay on when NOT in Guided Access Mode same as everyone else is experiencing.

Anything Apple? Anything?

It looks like ios update: 12.1.3 took care of my wi-fi issue now too. Terrific! Now hopefully Apple doesn't break it again.

It did NOT with 12.1.2. It would turn off Wi-Fi after 20 minutes. But 12.1.3 and 12.1.4 does work properly.

Just read that option and I think that is it! That really should have been on by default. Testing it now to confirm. Thanks!

Single-app mode isn't an option for my company, or for many of the folks on this thread I imagine. Our software vendor (Lightspeed) doesn't provide a reliable app and instead advises Guided Access.

So I will just keep calling and bumping this thread until Apple corrects their mistake. 👿

Same here. I lodged a bug report and it got marked as a duplicate. I used one of my code level technical support requests with an Apple engineer asking for a solution or a temporary workaround. They responded saying there's nothing that can be done and refunded the support ticket

Wohoo is referring to using the Apple Configurator app, or the Device Enrollment Program, to enabled "Supervised" mode on the iMacs. His suggested step 2 & 3 is to use Meraki MDM (a paid MDM platform) to manage the devices and lock them into "Single app mode".

While this may work for some, Meraki is not cheap and "Single app mode" has limitations. Specifically, you can lock the device into only running Safari, but you can't pass any settings to Safari or even enable full-screen mode w/o address bar. In my case, the app I need to run is Safari but the only way to make it run full-screen is to use Guided Access.

If the app you need to run is a standalone app and not browser-based, Meraki *is* a viable solution.
