iWork ’09 working with OS 10.14 Mojave?

Hey Guys,

I need to work with old but gold iWork ’09 (especially Numbers and Pages) on my iMac 2017 (High Sierra).

(I think, these are the best apps, Apple ever created.)

I would like to know: When I install the new OS 10.14 Mojave, will iWork '09 still work?

Has anyone been able to try that?

iMac with Retina 5K display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

NO. Pages '09 does NOT work with OSX 10.14. I am so unhappy. Can't they check these things out and warn users when an OS upgrade renders prior Apple software non-functional?

Pages '09 opens up, but PRIOR pages files, either created with pages '09 or exported to pages '09 WILL NOT OPEN in pages '09.

Bear in mind that we are fellow users here. You can give feedback to Apple via Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback in your menu.

For what it's worth, I have made Genius Bar appointments via the website on a number of occasions. I've also just walked in and gotten an appointment that way.

I'm not sure it is realistic to expect decade-old software to work forever. The latest versions of Numbers are better than the old ones, in my opinion. I understand Pages, by contrast, hasn't really caught up with the version that was sold as part of iWork '09.

Can't speak for Pages, but in my opinion Numbers has evolved beyond what it was in iWork '09.

With the new Pages could it be Apple is being considerate to all those iWork for iOS users? It seems possible iWork for iOS users outnumber Pages for the Mac users. And iWork '09 didn't work so well on iOS, did it?🙂

Since I have a new Mac mini I'm trying to use Mojave & learn to use Pages 7.3. It is not going well. I have a flyer I had created in Pages 4.3 & I needed to update. It's a bunch of text boxes & 3-4 small graphics. After making a small change all I wanted to do was vertically distribute the text boxes & it just wasn't doing it. I ended up opening the file in Pages 4.3 on another Mac I accessed via screen sharing. Worked just as it should (& always has in Pages 4.3 & earlier). I wish there was a way to run High Sierra on this new Mac mini.

Yes, printing is not a strong suit for any of the latest iWork apps, is it. That doesn’t bother me because I don’t print that much any more. Maybe you could run an older OS in a virtual machine under Parallels for those occasions when you need some of the original printing capabilities?
