Apple Watch Series 3 screen mark

I've just noticed a mark on the top edge of my watch which i cannot explain. It is not scratched. It appears either to be in the glass or underneath the top layer. I cannot find any reference to a problem that is similar unless it is a coating issue.

Without having the device in front of us, it is difficult to tell. Besides that, what anyone here thinks is not important, since Apple makes all final decisions. If you make a Genius Bar appointment as instructed, no matter how busy the store is, you have a reservation. Only Apple can determine what they believe it is and what they are going to do about it. Anyone responding here would just be a subjective opinion, and does not carry any weight.

I'm just trying to figure out what it might be. I had planned on going to an apple store and getting it looked at but 1. I live/work a long way from the nearest store. 2. I always find it better to have some idea of what I'm talking about when I'm talking to anyone about a problem and 3. Apple has just released new products and the store was swamped last time I went by to look at the new series 4 for my wife, hence my posting my query here. I've owned an apple watch before with no issues. This one was a present for Christmas and I can't figure out why the mark would be there.
