iPhone XS Max camera lens weak/defective?

The other day I was showing my friend my iPhone and he noticed that my camera lens (sapphire glass) was cracked but not shattered. According to apple the glass is supposed to be very strong.. I took my phone in for the genius bar to take a look, and they told me that is was physical damage. Firstly, there are no impact point on the phone. Secondly, if the sapphire glass is as strong as they say the impact that would have cracked it would have at least put a dent in the camera bezel or shattered the camera lens. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue??

XS Max less than 30 days old with an Apple silicone case - never dropped etc. It has the cracked camera lens glass. I hope Apple realizes something isn't right with this.

Have this issue as well.

Iphone xs max.

The iphone is inside a case since day one and I have it for about three weeks.

This has to be a manufacturing issue.

Well, unfortunately I live in Israel, where ther is no apple care what so ever...

Looks like the saphirre is not so strong as it should have been.

Just got my phone Saturday. Got home and pulled it the plastic and there it was a nice little crack on the lens going back today to see what I can do as well.
