Using apple id with a foreign phone number

Hi, I am somehow experiencing problems with my Apple ID. I am a international student in U.S but I am currently in China for this school year. I have an apple id registered in U.S and it is associated with a U.S phone number. Today I got a phone number in China, and after I set up the SIM card in my iPhone, it asked me to update my trusted phone number. I hit yes and it updated my trusted number to the phone number in China but also deleted my old phone number in U.S. Also, I checked my phone numbers in setting, my old number in U.S is deleted.

In the setting, it shows that I am only contactable with my email. I can’t get a verification code for my U.S phone number because it does not support roaming.

Now, my only concern is, without a U.S phone number, will my Apple ID be disabled or it might doesn’t work? I don’t want to lose it for this school year because I need it to access apps and catch up school works from U.S. I can add my US phone number to my Apple ID only when I return U.S after this school year.
