iPhone XS Max Speaker(in the earpiece) issue

I recently bought iPhone XS Max 64gb silver variant, the front speaker near the earpiece stops working after some use. The earpiece works absolutely fine while making and receiving calls, but while playing any media file, only the bottom speaker works not the top one. This issue is now constantly arising on both my iPhones XS Max variants,

to rectify the issue, I have to restart the iPhone every time to make the top speaker work , until it gets back to dead.

Pls help.

I had a good chat for about 40 mins with the apple senior advisor, then made him talk with the local apple authorised service centre employee, upon agreeing , they both confirmed that Apple is well aware of this issue as they have read on the forum about this issue, He told me to do not go for device replacement or restore as it is a software issue. In the meantime just restart the device till Apple launches a fix in the next iOS update. I was also informed by him that is there is an issue with the entire batch, then apple will come up with a replacement program so as to rectify this issue.

I know you didn’t ask me, but I’ve done that numerous times. In fact it’s how I usually get my speaker to come back on. I am assuming turning it off and then back on will do the same thing. Apple’s silence on this is deafening, and we may never hear any admittance from them. Will they slip it in in one of the updates without announcing it? Maybe, but that seems to be the way of the world anymore, and big corporations are leading the way in denials. Let’s face it iOS 11 was a subpar operating system, by anyone’s standards let alone apples. iOS 12 seems to be very stable, with none of the glitches that never got straightened out with iOS 11. Like I mentioned before, I have been a iPhone owner since the 3G, and the only thing stopping me from jumping ship is that android is susceptible to bugs, and hacking more than iOS is. I understand the most secure cell phone in the world is an android, but you have to drop close to $3000 to have it. You can google that.

I see. My device was replaced approximately ten days ago and the replacement device did the exact same thing. My replacement device came with iOS 12, which iTunes prompted me to update to 12.0.1 before I did a restore. I believe apple knew about this problem long ago because they were not that interested in getting their hands on my device nearly two weeks ago. That tells me that they could replicate it themselves in their own testing, or they knew about it going out the door. Either way, I would just like my new phone to work properly, as I’m sure everyone else that has this problem once also.

I would suggest that everyone quit wasting their time replacing their phones, and restoring their software, because if the problem still exists in iOS 12.1 restoring to the same software is going to do zero. The bug has to be addressed after 12.1 because it’s still there. I know I’m only level one in the forums, but my experience with iPhones is level 10. This is plain and simple to figure out... and it’s a bug, it’s a software glitch that they are not owning up to. My hat is off to Apple, with iOS 12, it works a whole lot better than iOS 11, which was a glitchy mess. Except for the speaker issue that is.

Ok, so just got an XS yesterday and today the top speaker isn't playing any music though it. IS there another fix besides restarting it? Is there something else we can do to get it back on without having to turn off?

This is on a brand new XS 512 that was just delivered to me yesterday.

ALSO, I came from a 6s and the call quality and tone of the ear piece speaker sounds better this this new phone. It's like the treble is turned down for all call using the earpiece, not on speakerphone. Anyone else notice this?

Somehow my problem has been rectified. For those looking for a history of my problems, I pre-ordered the Xs max from Verizon, and received it on 9-21. Shortly afterwards, maybe on the 23rd, I noticed low-volume from my max during playback of my music, YouTube, and apps that contained dialogue, and quickly found out that the earphone speaker was not working, although a reboot, or a off and on cycle got it working again. I talked with Apple a couple of times, they did their usual testing, but since I do not have AppleCare they were not inclined to replace my phone easily. So I stated my problem to Verizon, and had a new Xs max within two days, I can’t say enough about Verizon’s top tier insurance, and this is a few times in the last couple of years that I have received a new iPhone from them, after some problems arose. I received my new max iOS 12.0.1 was already out, so I updated, a day or two later my problem persisted, no earphone speaker sound. iOS 12.1 comes out, I update, a couple days later my speaker goes out, this may have happened one more time, but the bottom line is my earphone speaker has not gone out in roughly 10 or 12 days. The only thing I have done different is use my Bluetooth a couple of times, and I switched it off after I was done. I have not turned Bluetooth on in about a week. I know someone mentioned turning Bluetooth on and off fixed their problem, that’s why I mentioned it. Why are some still having problems after the iOS 12.1 update? I’m not sure, and for the first couple days after that particular update I was also, then my problem seems to have been resolved. I would expect that if it was going to happen on my max again, it would’ve happened by now. If it goes out again I’ll report it, but so far so good.
