iMac broken hinge replacement eligibility?

I’d like to ask if my 2012 manufactured iMac 27 inch desktop is eligible for free repair at the Apple store Genius Bar (also would it be eligible in Australia?). The iMac’s hinge recently broke and I’d like to know if it is eligible for free replacement like stated by online sources which I have researched about. I’d like to confirm if this is true that the repair will be covered by Apple regardless of warranty and Apple Care on models from 2012-2014.
