Mojave Issues...

Ever since I upgraded to Mojave, my essentially new 27 in. Macbook has been acting all kinds of wonky.

First off, it doesn't go to sleep mode, and instead, I'm forced to hit the power button every time to reboot/wake it up, and then proceeds to show me loading bars for a few minutes. Super annoying.

I'd be able to fix that issue, excepttttt System Preferences won't even open at all anymore (nor will Safari, or their new News app.)

Also noticing that my Mac as a whole is running way slower than before, with the good ole' spinning wheel making many more appearances than it used to when doing simple tasks like browsing.

Can someone help me figure out what the heck is going on here?

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), macOS Mojave (10.14)

I suggest you use the program created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. It will provide a snapshot of your system which we can analyze to possibly determine the cause of your problem. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Problem: Apps are crashing

Description:

After installing Mojave, Safari, System Preferences and News apps are all crashing upon opening. Sleep mode is also defunct, and it seems to almost turn off rather than go to sleep, prompting a 2 min. Loading bar to appear after waking.

FWIW, I gave up on the Sleep function years ago. Ever since the inception of OS X there have been Sleep related issues. And even more lately. I just use Display Sleep and keep it set for 15 minutes so I'm not burning the screen. That way your Mac uses very little power over Sleep and is ready to use at the touch of a key without any grogginess. UNIX based systems were made to be always on and they’ve been running busy servers 24/7 for decades.

As far as other problems, please download and run Etrecheck It is a diagnostic tool that's very useful to us in finding problems. It will provide a snapshot of your system. After it runs post the log file here. It will contain no personal information.

I don't know how you'd do that. What you might be able too do in normal boot would be the following:

Download and run Find Any File to search for any files with the application's name in the file name. For example you'd do the following search:

1 - Name contains sentinelone

Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop for deletion. You may be asked for your admin password when moving them.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

Welp... looks like they still aren't opening. Safari and System Prefrences just bounce up and down once, then give me the same old error message.....User uploaded file

Any other ideas? I also have this SentinelOne software running (part of our companies security protocol) that I installed recently. But these issues only popped up after the Mojave update. Also called Apple Care today, they walked me through reinstalling Mojave via safe mode. That didn't do anything either.

Oct 8, 2018 1:03 PM in response to Old Toad

Hey Old Toad, so I tried using the article to remove SentinelOne and boot it in recovery mode... but the problem I had was how do I copy the removal code script when I'm in recovery mode? I see the option to choose the terminal, but I'm confused as to how to actually copy the code over when in recovery mode, as there's no browser available?

That's the issue I'm running into... deleting clean my mac didn't solve the crashing system preferences issue either.
