Where are Safari 12 Cache Files Stored?
The files ~/Library/Cache/com.apple.Safari/WebKitCache/Version 13/Blobs
are no longer storing information past September 24.

Try ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
I managed to find it - on my mac anyway. It's at Macintosh HD/users/~/library/containers/com.apple.safari/data/library/caches/com.apple.sa fari - quite well hidden! When I delete all of these caches then they recreate themselves immediately after browsing on some websites. Presumably by restoring form another hidden location which I can't ever seem to find. However, by switching this file into read-only mode and locking it then it prevents them from being recreated. This does not totally prevent new caches from being created (obviously in a different location) but there aren't many of these new ones.
Any further ideas from anyone - particularly getting to the source of where the "hidden copies that allow re-creation" are located - would be most helpful. Best wishes to all, Mike
Same here, Safari cache .dbs must be somewhere else in Mojave. The only other place to look would be the main Safari folder, ~/Library/Safari. There are some cache folders here (Favicon, Touch Icons), but I don't think these are the cache files for Safari as a whole!? Personally, I'm wary of deleting anything in any ~/Library folder unless I know exactly what I'm doing! To delete Safari caches I just have the Developer Menu showing (Safari < Preferences > Advanced, check "Show Developer Menu" at the bottom), and delete the caches from there. Hope this helps you! Regards, Ian.
Yes, I did quit safari and then restart the mac. The "new" cache files, which come whenever I browse SOME websites such as Reuters.com, youtube or BBC.com, now appear in private/var/folders/sw/long-string-of-digits/C/com.apple.safari. So I don't think I have a complete solution to the question, just an ability to prevent the regeneration of the tens and tens of historic ones. Maybe there is no complete and final solution...
Did you quit Safari before deleting the cache and then reopen it? Restarting the computer before reopening Safari also might help.
Yeah, I tried using the Developer Menu to delete the cache and it did not remove the files. It seems those folders are no longer used by Safari?
But I actually wanted to see the cache files. Prior to Mojave I was able to open the above mentioned folder and view each cached image. They would show up as a TextEdit Document, but when double clicked would open in Preview as an image. Each cached image file would have a name like: 583998ED3AF4C8370090B9AE1793E08CCDD29B06.
Can't find them anywhere now. Ideas?
Oh yes, I understand that you want to see the cache files, as you could in previous versions of macOS! To be honest, I've no more ideas at the moment, but will do some goggling on this tomorrow, when I have time. I´ll let you know if I find anything. Or maybe some other forum user knows where the caches are? Ian.
I´ve spent some time googling and can't find anything, apart from some third-party apps that claim to "clean" OS Mojave's cache files, Safari included. But I wouldn't touch these with a barge pole, as macOS looks after itself and doesn't need any such apps, which can sometimes cause irreparable system damage, as I'm sure you know! The same goes for "anti virus" apps.
I think Mojave is still too new yet to find anything about Safari 12.0 cache files. Will look into this in a couple of months. If you do find anything in the meantime do let me know please! Regards, Ian.
Nothing there past that date either. September 24 is when Mojave released and I updated my system. Does Mojave store the cache images somewhere else now?
Thank you.
Very useful, Mike. I'd never have found the files without your directions!
