Here’s the thing: As a parent, I rely on Apple’s representation that the Screen Time function works when I give a device to my child. The fact that it so reliably fails and Apple has not provided a fix in well over a year shows that they have no interest in solving the problem. I went through a whole tech support case last year trying to fix this, and while it seemed like it worked at some point it’s back to broken again. YouTube not blocked when clearly in downtime. This feels like a class-action issue.

I agree. This is a HUGE Apple fail. Screen time simply will not work on my daughter's phone for Tik Tock or Snapchat. Everything else works, and yes I've tried almost every trick in the thread. It works briefly, occasionally, then is back to magically not working.

Apple, not only is this frustrating for parents but it also is a symptom of the bigger problem: Your quality control sucks lately, at least with software. Get it together if you want to keep your customers.

Agreed! Apple fix this issue! It’s a huge problem for parents!!!! I too am having the problem of YouTube, Netflix, and Safari remaining available after the downtime setting parameters have started. Fix this!!!

This (being listed in the Always Allowed group of Apps) is not the case for us. I'm not sure what the issue is, because it seems it sometimes is correctly restricted/limited and other times lets them watch for hours beyond the limit and quiet hours setting.

I wish it were that simple. I do occasionally find YouTube on that list somehow (ST is password protected, so not sure about that). But even when I take it off there, YouTube will keep working after ST limits kick in. Makes no sense.

This did not work for me. YouTube remains usable, as if it's on a safe list, but it's not.

I have the same issue. I added a 1 minute limit and also blocked all youtube urls such as https://m.youtube.com, https://www.youtube.com, ... yet my kid can visit youtube all he wants until he hits the time limit I have set for Safari.

Same here. All of a sudden screen time limit is not cutting my son of Youtube. It seems to be working on one of my sons phones but not on the others. This is frustrating.

Only two it won't block is YouTube and Instagram...exactly the two that are taking up hours and hours of time I am trying to control. Thanks Apple...

The only app that won't get blocked on my son's after using it for the time limit is Instagram. It is so annoying because that is the one app that I really need to limit on his phone.

Add an age restriction which will block YouTube ALL the time. YouTube is a +17 app. I just changed my 5yr old to +4 apps only. BAM no more YouTube!
