HI, I was wondering why there isn't a Tibetan flag emoji yet. This is because I am Tibetan and I always see people sending their flags and posting it around social media and I feel that many other Tibetan people would like to see this flag emoji too.

The Tibetan flag has already been defined by Unicode:

But Apple has not yet included it in their emoji font, and whether they will do so is unknown. You can ask them via

Did not know that. Thanks.

Given how much effort Apple has gone to to please China, and be able to sell their wares there, I doubt they'd be willing to offer up a Tibetan flag emoji that can upset that relationship.

Also the link you provide mentions the Unicode Consortium has not recommended it for General Interchange which means its down to manufacturer preference to include it. Which means even if Apple were to include it, anybody not using an Apple device, is likely to not see the emoji at all.

Because it has not yet been defined by the people in charge of defining Emojis. Apple does not get to unilaterally decide what Emoji are available. They just make images for the ones defined by the Unicode Consortium which is in charge of Emoji definitions.

You can submit a an Emoji proposal to them at: http://unicode.org/emoji/proposals.html

Yes. In practice it will probably work the other way -- Android users will find ways add a font with this flag to their devices and will be able to see it if they want, but iOS users will not.

Indeed. 😉
