Hey Dyondcb,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having trouble downloading and seeing artwork using Apple Music. I'll be happy to help out.

Here's some help with downloading music:

If you can't download, play, or access songs

First check iTunes to see if the song is ineligible for upload. Additionally, if you added the song to your library from the Apple Music catalog, it might no longer be available on Apple Music.

Check your Internet connection

Open Safari on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, or a web browser on your PC, and go to any website to make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi or Internet connection.

If you can't connect to a Wi-Fi network on your iOS device, you can try using cellular data:

  1. Go to Settings > App and iTunes Stores.
  2. Turn on Use Cellular Data.

You might have to pay a fee to download over a cellular network. Contact your wireless carrier for details, and learn about cellular data settings and usage.

For issues with artwork appearing, take a look here:

If the artwork for some of your albums or songs is missing

  1. On your Mac or PC, open iTunes.
  2. In the upper-left corner, click User uploaded file Music.
  3. In the left sidebar, click Albums.
  4. Find the album with the missing artwork, then right-click or Control-click it.
  5. Click Get Album Artwork. To select more than one album, hold down the Command key on your keyboard and click additional albums.
  6. iTunes adds the album artwork.
  7. From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen or at the top of the iTunes window, choose File > Library > Update iCloud Music Library.
  8. After iCloud Music Library has finished updating, open the Music app on your iOS device.
  9. Find the songs that are missing artwork, and remove the downloads from your device.
  10. Tap the download icon User uploaded file to the right of the song to download the song again from iCloud Music Library.

You need to:

remove all downloaded music in the Music app

(only if you downloaded it from Music to iPhone. if you only added it to the library ignore this step)

  • switch off iCloud Music Library in both iPhone settings and iTunes
  • backup iPhone to computer or iCloud or both through iTunes
  • restore iPhone to factory settings through iTunes
  • restore iPhone to the backup though iTunes
  • turn iCloud Music Library back on in both iTunes and iPhone settings
  • Update iCloud Music Library through iTunes
  • sync iPhone through iTunes

Open the Music app on iPhone - all the artwork will be back, and you'll be able to download songs.

Hey Dyondcb,

Thanks for following up! I'm glad you were able to get the artwork to show again. For downloading songs, are you seeing the red icon next to the song? What happens when you do try to download? Here's the steps that should allow you to download songs. If you're seeing something different, let us know a little more information about what's happening on your end when you try to download a song for offline listening:

How to download content to listen to offline

Before you can download content to listen to offline, you need to add it to your Library. Then, in the Music app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch; in iTunes on your Mac or PC; or in the Apple Music app on your Android phone, find the item that you want to download, and follow these steps:

  • On your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android phone: Tap Download User uploaded file .
  • On your Mac or PC: Click Download User uploaded file .

You'll see User uploaded file when the download is complete.

If you have Automatic Downloads turned on, content automatically downloads to your device or computer when you add it to your Library. You won't see User uploaded file or User uploaded file .

Use the Watch app on your iPhone to add music to your Apple Watch.

Actually it isn’t anything with my Internet, nor with uploading. I am able to stream music and luckily the album artwork now adds to my library but I still can’t download the music to my phone so I can listen offline. For example, I can go to the top charts section and add an album, playlist or song to my library but I can’t download it for me to listen offline.
