New 2018 Macbook Pro Bad Camera Quality

I have a brand new 2018 i7 2.6 MacBook Pro 15 running Mojave and the quality is noticeably worse than my 2014 MacBook Pro 13"— just took it to the Genius Bar and they booted from the store server with no improvement. Then we checked the display models, and NONE of the new 15" MBPs looked as good as my 2014.

Turns out that although they're both 720p HD cameras, the vendor is different on these newer Macs. I don't think it's a software issue, because my 2014 is running the exact same OS and software. It's the vendor that's supplying these cameras— they appear much grainier as if they're using a higher ISO internally.

I'm having the same problem with a brand new 2018 MacBook Air. I don't know for sure if its a software problem. Had a session with an Apple Specialist and performed quality control tests no issues found. Turns out ALL the 2018 MacBook Air have poor camera quality nothing will be done, either you live with it or by another brand...Sad

Just bought MacBook Pro 2018, and im experiencing the same kind of issue. The camera is unforgivably bad. Even thou I don't use the camera often, its not acceptable that my old MacBook Pro from 2011 produce better quality image.

I have the same issue. It is a software problem so don't worry, you did not receive a faulty one. Try reinstalling the macOS!
