iCloud and internet accounts broken

For the better part of a year my contacts and continuity features that use iCloud have been broken.


Under my settings in iCloud my account doesn't show that I'm signed in. It asks to sign in and after I do, it says " **iCloud account** is already signed in to iCloud. To use this Apple ID as your primary iCloud account, delete it from Internet Accounts and sign in again."


After going to my internet account under setting none of my email accounts or iCloud accounts show up and I'm asked to sign set up my accounts. If I set it up I always get " Already signed in as **iCloud account**. This iCloud account already exists. "


I'm not too sure what to do to get all my internet accounts to work again.

Currently using a 13" MacBook Pro from 2013 on MacOS 10.14


Any way I can get my setting back to normal?

So I have no idea why this is happening but my wife had the same issue on her MacBook Air and contacted Apple to to figure out how to do fix it. She directed the tech to this thread and after a couple of failed attempts, this was the solution that worked with no additional issues:

  1. Open Terminal
  2. Type defaults delete MobileMeAccounts
  3. Press enter
  4. Log into iCloud thru Internet Accounts in settings. The already signed in message should be gone once you sign in.
  5. Go to iCloud thru Settings. Now it should show your Apple ID on the top
  6. Type your password. It should work now.
  7. Check all the boxes again.
  8. Done


Hopefully this works for you as well. At least the Apple tech knows there are other people with the same issue.

I have the same problem. "defaults delete MobileMeAccounts" command removed the 'is already signed in to iCloud. To use this Apple ID as your primary iCloud account, delete it from Internet Accounts and sign in again' message but didn't resolve the main problem. Now, when I'm trying to Log into my iCloud account - there is no any message at all and I'm not logged in.

I've tried to restart, but it didn't help as well.
