iOS 12 guided access sleep
Since iOS 12, guided access isn't staying on and the iPad goes to sleep. Is this a bug or is there a way around this?

It seems to be a bug since iOS 12 which has not been fixed yet by Apple.

In iOS12 Guided Access, can't set Screen no-Lock. |Apple Developer Forums
Hello
I have this same issue since I upgraded to IOS 12. I start an app in guided access and my iPad goes to sleep after about 10 minutes. A restart didn't help, auto lock is set to never, so it must be a bug.
Any idea how soon can Apple fix this?
Cheers
Attila
Since the IOS 12 update my iPads used for business purposes set in Guided Acces fall out in sleep mode after certain time. When not set in Guided Acces iPad stays on unlimited. Tested with app that i use but also with Apple native app like mail. Problem seems really to be in Guided Acces in combination with IOS 12. I have it with 5 iPads and tested it in all kind of settings en modes. It is definitely a bug since the update to IOS 12. I hope that Apple fixes it ASAP, because I really need the Guided Acces for my business.
It's definitely a bug with iOS 12.
One solution that I have heard is to revert back to iOS 11.3, but that is time consuming and some advise against it.
We figured out a 'fix' for our app - see here -> https://flowkiosk.com/guided-access-bug-in-ios-12-fixed/ - I'm sure there is a creative way to fix for others as well.
Thanks and good luck!
It is a bug. This has also happened on early versions of 11 and then was fixed prior to 12's release. If you do not enable guided access with all settings in place like auto-lock never, etc it works fine. But once you enable guided access the screen will go dark in 20min. If the user presses the home button, it will come right back on into the app but as you know this is not a good walk-up experience in a retail location, nor is it a good brand image when your Apple devices are constantly "dark".
This issue has been ongoing for several months. This is rendering useless every single iPad kiosk in the planet using the new iOS - and worse, with no way to return once you have upgraded. It needs to be fixed ASAP. Absolutely unacceptable - and deeply disappointing by Apple. The standards of QC have fallen greatly.
At this time, a solution only exists as a beta. An interim .01 update needs to be made available. This is a serious issue.
I am deeply worried about Apple not fixing this issue. I have filed the bug to Apple weeks ago and they have not taken care of the inquiry. Terrible situation for hundreds kiosks that are live for us right now.
UPDATE: iOS 12.1.1 has been released and includes a fix to this issue, but requires a change to a new setting introduced in this release to prevent the screen from sleeping: General > Accessibility > Guided Access > Mirror Display Auto-Lock > ON.
It's a bug. Hopefully Apple will wake up soon, acknowledge and fix it.
I am also experiencing the same issue with iPads upgraded to IOS 12.0.1. This is definitely a bug.
1500+ devices affected here. not a good situation.
I have downloaded 12.1 and it still goes dark after some time. Is there something I'm missing, or did they really not address the issue in the new iOS version? I have auto lock set to never.
