How to work with a japanese keyboard in english?

I have a japanese keyboard, but when I'm writing in english the quotation marks don't work well. The mac just understand the "enter" mark and don't the "exit" mark. I already look for a special setup on the keyboard settings but I couldn't find any that could help me with this.

How to change Japanese keyboard layout? The Japanese keyboard layout (hiragana) on my new MacBook Pro is like this: On my old computer (and other computers I've used), when selecting hiragana the layout would be QWERTY and what was typed would be converted to hiragana, etc. Does anyone know how to change this? I've looked for but haven't been able to find the relevant setting.

keyboard defaults back to Japanese I'm having to write this with an old wired keyboard since I haven't been able to use my mac one. It will no longer print i's or o's and a few other keys. I looked in preferences and it keeps going back to Japanese language as my selection. What!!!!????? I don't think so !!!! Please help. Apple care doesn't seem to know how to fix this . Very frustrating because I miss my wireless apple keyboard. Thx.

To set up different enter and exit quotes (known as smart or curly quotes), you can normally use settings in your app or in system preferences/keyboard/text. It doesn't matter what keyboard you are using.

Also in the US or Romaji input source, you should find them at option [ and option shift [. “ ”
