Dark Mode - Windows change colour depending on screen position

I've just now upgraded my 2017 Macbook Pro 13-inch to Mojave 10.14.

Using Dark mode, I immediately noticed that native macOS windows shift colour balance depending on where they are on the screen. They are unmissably warm-tinted toward the left, and become more neutral toward the right. This is not a hardware screen issue, as the entire window changes colour, not just that region of the screen. Please also note that screen focus does not affect this issue.

The only fix I can find is to change the accent colour to Graphite, which is not ideal as it significantly impacts usability. Examples below:

Same issue here with dark mode and can confirm that changing to graphite fixes the issue.

The shift in colour is actually it picking up tones of the background image. I noticed it more today when I was in dark mode with a light orange background. I was thinking - why are my finder windows brown?!

Some elements of the finder windows are translucent so that's also where the fluctuations in colour come from (and that's normal) - however even elements where the opacity is at 100% are changing colour with any accent colour other than graphite.

I hope this is a bug - as it kind of defeats the purpose of having a dark mode if it's only dark dependent on the wallpaper you are using!

ˆ This is how it should look all the time, please!

ˆ Yucky brown tinted Finder Windows as its picking up hues from the background!

Selecting "Increase Contrast" from the Accessibility options > Display allows you to use a different accent colour without tinting the windows - but unfortunately adds horrible thick outlines to everything!

Win some you lose some! 🙂

Hope this gets fixed in the next update - until then - graphite for the win!
