Purchased my phone on launch day. The phone has never been dropped and always in a case. I have a crack in the glass that covers the Camera lens. In my 17 years of owning cell phones, I have never once cracked anything (thank goodness). I am starting to believe the glass covering the camera lens is weak? I have Apple Care, but still...
Same here, not dropped just carried in my pocket with a few coins. Even the apple shop admitted that a coin had probably pressed on the glass but because it caused what looks like an impact crack they say its accidental damage rather than weak glass. If it was sapphire glass a coin pressing on it wouldn't break it! I think it is a material fault, but they say I now have to pay nearly 600 quid (no apple care). With this weak glass this 'premium' product is definitely not fit for purpose :-(

I have had similar problems out of my iPhone XS, I just bought on the 11th of November and for the past three days my phone has been freezing up while it was charging and it would be so hot I could barely touch the back even with a phone case on it.. I have tempered glass over the screen to protect the screen from cracking well today November 20, 2018 my phone was charging and it started ticking really loud where I could hear from another room in my house, I came running to see what was wrong and heard loud pop when I got to the phone my screen where the camera is at was completely shattered... I was home alone and it was laying on my coffee table charging... my phone over heated and the screen where my speaker and camera are at blew up from getting too hot it was so hot I couldn’t even pick it up without holding it with a shirt my whole screen tried to blow out... these phones are over heating dramatically and causing them to spontaneously combust... I haven’t even had my phone a week yet...
