How to change a folder icon to image in OS Mojave?

I have done all the steps:

  1. Copying image in Preview
  2. Right-Click on Folder to "Get Info"
  3. Clicking on small folder icon on top left side of window
  4. Control Paste image)

However, the new folder icon continues to be blurry. I've also changed the image format from jpeg to png and from jpeg to heic but no luck.

Make sure the image you're trying to add to the folder is square. Otherwise the resulting folder icon will be distorted.

For example adding the Mojave image at the top of the community page:

All it takes is a Command(⌘)+V to paste. No option key necessary.
