Help!!! My computer crashed and I lost all my music!

Hi. My computer crashed before I could back up iTunes. I lost ALL my music in iTunes. Of course, they're not on a hard drive either. I don't use iCloud because it totally messed up my iTunes library, like duplicating and deleting playlists, when I enabled it on my computer, so iCloud is not an option to restore it. My iPod does have all my music on it, correctly organized into the proper playlists. I really need help. Is there a way to transfer music back to my computer using the iPod, without deleting ANYTHING from the iPod? It's the ONLY backup I have of my music and I'm scared to lose it, too. Or, can you transfer music from one iPod to another iPod without using iTunes? And what happens to songs that are DRM protected that I purchased a long time ago? I'm desperate. I did have over 5,000 songs in iTunes and really don't know what to do. Thank you for any help you can give me.

See also Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash. If you've set up Time Machine properly to backup your iTunes library then you should be able review the backup and see the media files as they were just before everything was deleted. Failing that use one or other of the tips already posted to reclaim your media from your device, and then backup to another drive for security.
