How to fix filevault was not disabled (-69573) in mac book?

I mistakenly turned on the file vault and the encryption is paused. i tried to turn it off opening the system preference, then security and privacy, and then file vault. it says encryption paused and connect power adapter to resume encryption. I also tried through the terminal. still it says file vault was not disabled (-69573). How can i fix it?

If encryption is half done, your drive is unusable. Your only alternative to letting it finish is to erase your disk, destroying all your files.

Do whatever it tells you to do to get it to complete, wait the several hours it takes, then decide whether you want to leave it on or turn it off.
