iPod Touch 5th Generation - iOS 9.3.5 - "Cannot Verify Server Identity"

Hi all,

I have an older iPod Touch 5th generation which is not able to connect to websites properly. All sites visited in safari give an alert titled "Cannot Verify Server Identity". iOS is not recognizing certificates for any site - including www.apple.com.

I have done a factory reset and tried to connect to multiple wifi networks.

Any idea how I can solve this issue? It's as if all certificates are not trusted.

Thanks!

Damon

Hello damonallison,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you are encountering an error when accessing websites using Safari on your iPod touch. You've come to the right place for help.

Is this issue specific to loading websites using Safari or can you connect to other apps that use Wi-Fi? If you can access the internet using different apps, try to clear the history, cookies, and cache for Safari in Settings:

If you're not able to connect to Wi-Fi using any apps, the following support article provides additional troubleshooting steps for this issue:

Let us know what happens from here.

Cheers!
