Does my Apple Watch have to be connected to my phone plan?
Considering purchasing a used Apple Watch and I am wondering if I have to add it to my phone plan.

There are two main types of Apple Watch, with cellular and without cellular. The non cellular models all connect via your iPhone and don’t need any changes to your plan. The cellular version will work exactly like the non cellular version, plus it has the option to use standalone cellular. If you want to use a cellular watch without your iPhone nearby, that is when you need to have your network add the watch onto your calling plan.
