I have on my setup, two external usb HDD which were set up using the osx raid utility in a raid 1 set up, so in finder they appear as only one drive. if i was to then use bootcamp to install windows, how would these HDD appear? as one drive as per osx or as two seperate drives thus creating the risk of them not mirroring if i were to add/edit a file.

Apple RAID devices do not work on Windows. Apple also deprecated the HFS+ driver, but third-party drivers like Paragon may work.
It is an academic question because Boot Camp requires a partition on the internal boot drive. Launch the Boot Camp Assistant and click the Open Boot Camp Help button. Do not have any external drivers mounted during the installation process.
I do not know if you can coerce a Boot Camp Windows to recognize and use those Raid 1 drives. It should present and mount as a single device in Windows 10, but I do not have Windows 10 running in Boot Camp, or two spare drives to test it.
thank you for your reply, but maybe i didnt explain what exactly i meant. i plan on installing windows on the internal drive as you described above. the two external drives are there for data storage only, mirrored as per the raid 1 setup.
