calculation duration without date

is it possible to calculate the duration in hours and minutes , yes of course, but the problem is that the date that the cells are filled , the date of the changing is remembered.

when i fill in on 1 october 2018 all cells that i start working at 08:00 and when i stop working at 17:00 than the calculation of duration is correct, BUT ....

when i change one end time later that month, the calculation goes wrong because al starting times are 01/10/2018 08:00 and all end time is 01/10/2018 17:00 , except the one i change later e.g. 14/10/2018 17:00.

and than it goes wrong,

the calculation of the working time of that date is calculated between 14/10/2018 17:00 to 01/10/2018 08:00

How can i keep the date out of the calculation (i already change the cell format from "date - Time" to "time" (no date)

When I want to work with "just times" and ignore the dates I just enter the times as text. The easiest way to do that is just type a ' before the time, which tells Numbers you want your entry to be recognized as text. By default the "time" you enter that way will be left-aligned. But that doesn't stop Numbers from recognizing it as a time and doing date-time arithmetic. No need to mess around with complicated formulas. Just subtract.

And if you need the result to be not a duration but a number just use the DUR2HOURS function.
