Image Capture not working
Hello!
Since I upgrade to MOJAVE, my image capture is not working. It opens the window, shows my digital camera, but doesn't appear any image on the SD card.
Any help?

Ok this is a great thread and I think that thanks to DuKe1776 I found what the problem/bug actually is:
It has to do with the preview mode of both Image Capture or Preview.
If you open Image capture and switch the preview mode to list instead of thumbnails it works as it should i.e. you can drag, multi-select with shift, properly import etc.
The option is on the bottom left of the main screen (excluding the sidebar) - pardon my dark mode:
If you have thumbnails selected it wont work for Preview either. The difference is hat the default for Image Capture is thumbnails but for Preview the default is list.
Hope I helped and maybe someone should report this bug to Apple in order for them to have a more specific scope.
What have you been trying and what and how does it fail?
You can transfer photos from your iPhone using Photos, or Image Capture, or even iMovie or Final Cut Pro.
I am having the same problem. Tried your suggestion above. Seems that it uses Image Capture to perform the task. Which failed again giving the same error codes:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9912.) (-9912).
An error occurred while importing. The item “IMG_2804.JPG” was not imported.
I'm having a similar problem, but in my case Image Capture does not recognize the camera (a Canon PC1742) which I've been using with IC for years. Not only that, but it lists my printers under Devices and tells me "Software for this device is not installed." Mojave bug!
I have this problem as well and it is majorly annoying. I don't want to use Photos because I do not want to create a library of photos on my Mac. I keep all of my photos on a separate hard drive. I use Photoshop et all to keep track of, edit and finish my photos. I resent the **** out of Apple trying to force me to use one of their lesser products.
Is there some switch to turn off whatever is causing the problem in Mohave? I assume it probably has to do with some new feature.
AFAICT, Image Capture is working. There are a few glitches in Icon View, but selection is NOT one of them.
As I have explained in other occasions, Shift-click works differently in Icon View and List View.
This is NOT a bug. Just try it in the Finder:
A is selected; Shift-click on F adds JUST F to the selection:
With the addition of List View in Mac OS X, Shift-click gained a new behavior, of selecting everything in between - but that NEVER was the behavior in Icon View.
Having the same issue. My camera was showing up, started to import photos, but then hit an error message and stopped importing. Then I quit and tried anew, but now the camera shows up in Image capture/preview, but no images get recognized. I can therefore also not change the view from thumbnail to list.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
It won't load the images - just gives me a blank window as to import... My image capture worked with like 20 photos and then just did nothing for an hour - no error messages, it just stopped. So, I tried with 5 photos and the same thing happened - except it imported 0.
:( I miss image capture.
Yes! There is a major problem with Mohave and Image Capture, nothing is fixed, please quit saying that! I'm so ******, my workflow has pretty much slowed to a "STOP" because of this freaking problem. Any new ideas APPLE???????
I LOVED Image Capture. The update to Mojave has changed how it works on the MacBook Pro 2017 I use. I was used to launching Image Capture and then selecting an image, holding shift and then selecting the rest of the images in the group. Now, I need to select each one. I do agree with WebPain about selecting in list mode; however, that is not as quick and dirty as it was. Of course, I had to set the path to the location where I wanted the images to go. That does not have seemed to change. I hope it will become easier to use at some point again. Thanks for the help!
Perhaps that was a bug but for me, it's much easier to see all the images in preview mode and then select. It's much quicker and more accurate. There is always a chance I'm not doing something correctly but that is my thought.
I LOVE YOUR RESPONSE TO THIS !!!---- THE FACT IS - IS THAT APPLE DOESN'T GIVE A F#!# ABOUT HELPING ANY OF US WITH IMAGE CAPTURE ---- IT DIDN'T WORK THEN , AND AS OF 03/13/2019 ---- IT STILL DOESN'T WORK....... APPLE MADE ALL ITS MONEY ---- NOW ITS MOVING ON ! ****MY SUGGESTION IS TO MIGRATE TO A COMPUTER COMPANY THAT CARES , & ACTUALLY HAS TECHNICAL SUPPORT !!
Good to know about Airdrop - I was losing pictures thinking I'd transferring them because the phone said they'd been transferred, and so deleting them. Only to find they were gone forever, only the first few were copied.
Apple should hire some software engineers. I know they're expensive, but with professional help Apple software could be a contender instead of a joke.
None of these worked for me. Running latest OS—Matterhorn or Mt. Rainier or Pikes Peak or whatever the **** its called. First it’s jungle cats now mountains, dumb names. Doesn’t matter anyway because IMAGE CAPTURE DOESNT F***ING WORK.
what a joke.
Tried this this morning, too. NO key lets me select just a clump of photos to import. It's all or nothing now. I just wanted to import, like 50 photos from my iPhone into a folder on my Mac, but I wound up having to import ALL of my iPhone. Ugh. So much for Image Capture. Yet another Apple app that is failing.
Image Capture is not working correctly *for you*, but it IS for most users. If you want it fixed you have to do some troubleshooting to try and figure out what is wrong in your system.
Thinking that because it is not working for you it is broken and invoking the dead does not solve anything.
What steps did you do to troubleshoot?
