Google maps problem

When I use google maps on my iPhone X my watch screen flashes on and off with the directions

Maps no longer works Hi, In recent updates Apple Maps no longer works properly. It gets stuck in “Rerouting”, and is basically useless. I’ve had to switch to using Google Maps instead. I have the latest iOS (iPhone 12) and WatchOS and am trying to navigate using the iPhone with the Watch App running.

Maps are not showing anymore in activity app Morning, The map of my runs - OLD & new are not showing in my activity app. Runs that did have maps are no longer shown. I have checked all location settings and unpaired / repaired my watch but that hasn’t helped. I have an I phone 11 and I phone 3 and this was working fine until a few weeks ago which I think coincided with an update... help please. thanks.

I believe that is by design to alert you to turns. Apple Maps makes a noise depending on the turn direction and also taps you. Check your settings in Google Maps.
