After 12.0.1 update battery drain is high

Battery drain is really high right after 12.0.1 update.

Went from 68 % to 44 % within 10 minutes

I have read that article and adjusted settings to maximizer performance. Battery was fine pre-12.0/12.0.1, after installing both of these it lasts about 4 hours. I used to be able to use it all day. Upgrades should upgrade performance, not significantly downgrade it. Very annoying when we are all too busy already to have to contact support for what was supposed to be an upgrade.

I just updated forcibly, because Apple updates automatically overnight, to IOS 12.1.4 and now I notice that I can't even charge my iPhone 7 battery up to 100% let alone the fact that it's been draining in a much faster way than before the "upgrade". Didn't Apple have this same problem last year? There is something fishy going on here and I suspect that they are trying to make me buy a new phone but this time I am seriously considering the new Samsung model....better battery better camera better price etc etc What a shame, Apple used to be in the cutting edge of innovation

You are absolutely correct, Apple must find ways of increasing their sales. Since the loss of Steve Jobs, NOTHING innovative have been released from Apple, except odd ball features on the “old” IPhone. And to add insult to injury , they are asking $1,000 for a telephone ???!!! This battery drain was not accidental, if it was, its more proof that idiots are running the company .

Apple is ****. Fuck IPhone. I used Iphone untill now. These idiots are making intented action on software in order to drain baterry. Actually . Iphone`s lithium baterry is normal and its life is not affected by usage, but they make changes in every update possible. When u update, they fuck ur baterry. Its all about money. Fuck apple. fuck iphone`s. IPhone is a ****** phone, its only brand on them, never can compare Iphone with Samsung. I changed today my iphone 7 with samsung galaxy note 9, big difference. Battery 3 days, not charging like Iphone 9999 times a day. fuck apple

After months of poor battery and having to charge twice a day I have found that running the latest beta 12.2 fixed my issue. I’m back to charging every other day the same as in iOS 11. I had previously tried everything possible including running the phone completely stock with no apps etc and could not get the phone to last more than 8 hours in standby. Now it’s better than ever.

I'm glad to hear that Knobby888 and Plannergirl found a solution to their problem, and I hope it stays that way for them both. The problem is far from resolved for me, however. I installed iOS software proposed by them in hopes of seeing a miraculous fix all of a sudden (after all the other prescribed miracle fixes that have miserably failed); and sadly, the problem persists.

I had 100% charge, surfed one website for no more than two full minutes, only to be down to 94% with a fire-hot battery once again.

No miracle cure here, folks. Back to the other magic beans, teas, pills, and elixirs!

But what we really should be doing, friends, is all of us scheduling appointments with Genius Bars around the nation, and all of us demanding that this problem be resolved, and not quit going until they either give us free working phones or fix this nightmare they created!! Flood Apple with THEIR problem.

carlo6070,

Sorry to hear that you too are having the same problem as the rest of us. These abrupt battery drain issues have been confirmed in 6, 6s, SE, and 7.

If even 10% of we owners buy a new crazy-expensive iPhone to “avoid” this problem they’ve created (but for how long?!), and the other 90% of us switch brands, that’s still a ton of iPhone sales they otherwise wouldn’t have without this battery issue. In other words, they still win by making us get rid of perfectly good phones. So either of your proposed solutions don’t entirely help you. Instead, what if every single one of us 6, 6s, SE, and 7 users experiencing this problem scheduled an appointment with the Genius Bar and didn’t stop pushing the matter until they resolve this “known issue” and “confirmed issue” they’ve created by their software?! We’d flood their stores and they’d be required to address the issue — as has been demonstrated in the past.

That’s the only “win” for us. Even though the phones are out of the timeframe for Apple Care service, Apple has provided new phones to users who have a “known/confirmed” issue in the past, and if it’s common enough in their Genius Bars, they’ll be forced to deal with it.

I have been having the EXACT same issue in the last 2 weeks. I will leave the house in the morning @ 100% charge, only listening to music on my morning commute to work; so maybe 25-30 mins (w/no other apps open) so, one of two things will happen.

A) I will look at the phone when I get to work (again 25-30 mins tops) and literally be down to about 5-10%!

B) The phone will "shut down" at about 40% battery remaining and require that I plug it back in... after about 30 seconds of being plugged in... it turns on and i'm at 10%... this is BEYOND infuriating. I've tried every step on these message boards and it works (for a very brief time) and then back to the same crap battery behavior.

Get it together Apple!
