Help with importing MP3's on a MacBook to iTunes

Hello, I have some mp3 files on my MacBook and I need to put them into iTunes so I can transfer them onto my iPhone but I have no idea how too do this. I'm very new to the MacBook and not very clued up so of course I started but trying to drag & drop but that didn't work, I've tried to do file and 'add to library' but that doesn't seem to work either. I'm clearly doing something wrong but I'm useless with iTunes and my husband is not here to help me and I'm very frustrated as I wish I understood all this 😟 Can anyone help please?

Ok, I'll give it a go that way and see if that works better for me. Thanks for the advice - I'll let you know if I manage to solve the enigma that is iTunes playlists! 😀

For some reason the 'transfer purchases from my iPhone' option isn't highlighted for me to select, it's just greyed out so I can't click on it 😟

Apologies, I was impatient, it's fine for me to click on it but it hasn't transferred the other songs in my library onto iTunes

hmmm, thats odd because the songs are all ones which I had downloaded from iTunes over the last couple/few years but they're just not moving from my phone onto the iTunes library on the computer.

Clicking the cloud symbol should download the selected track or album. You can also select multiple items at the same time and then download from the right-click context menu.

Ok so, fingers crossed as soon as I download them then I should be able to somehow add them back into my library on iTunes on the computer?

Once they are all downloaded they should appear in your main music collection and can be added into any playlist.

Transfer purchases only works for iTunes Store purchases that aren't already in the library. For anything else you will need one of the recovery tools/methods listed towards the bottom of the user tip.
