However, you can put files in a folder to be burned and Control (right) - click on the folder and select Burn "xxxx" to Disc". The external drive must be turned on and with a blank disc in it for it to show up in the contextual menu.

There is a known bug in Mojave that won't display a blank disk. Other than that I don't know. I have a SuperDrive connected to my iMac Pro and it's fine.

I agree with dialabrain. My Super drive works fine but blank disc not displayed. I assume future updates may fix that issue.

Thanks - that worked. I thought it was because I bought DVD-R disks. (Exchanged them for DVD+R and they still did not work, but found this work-around.)

Just a note about +R discs: DVD players made before 2002 can't play DVD+R discs. So if you or those you send them to have older DVD players you'll need to use the -R discs.
