Why when selecting the key photo does it zoom into the frame?

I’m new to the Live Photo thing but I love it. What’s puzzling me is that my perfectly captured frame is now zooming in slightly when I try select a different key photo - left and right.

Does anybody have a clue why?

It zooms in slightly as soon as the selection square is moved at the bottom

Hey there, mr2sticks,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I understand you have some concerns while editing Live Photos, as the picture appears to zoom in when changing the Key photo. I'm happy to help!

What you're experiencing is expected behavior. While you're selecting your key photo, the picture does zoom in a bit. Once you have selected the photo and save your changes, the image will return to normal, and no longer be zoomed in. If it is, you can go back into the edit menu and tap the red "Revert" option to bring it back to the original.

Cheers!

Hey mr2sticks,

Thanks for following up. It sounds like you still have concerns over the zoom during editing of key photos. If you are still in the edit interface, the picture will remain zoomed until you save and exit out to your Photos app again. If the picture remains zoomed after you exit the edit interface, please reach out to Apple Support directly for more assistance: Contact Apple Support .

Have a good day.

Hi Sterling R,

Thanks for replying.

The photo doesn’t zoom out after it’s been selected and saved, it stays zoomed in. I’ll select an alternative key photo ‘make key photo’ and as soon as I move the select tool at the bottom, it zooms in slightly.

Really frustrating. Could this be a bug?

Perhaps I’m still doing something wrong as per your instruction?

I don’t remember this being the case when I first started using the function.

Thanks again
