IOS 12.0.1 has made my phone virtually unusable. I've tried doing several types of resets (from network settings to the whole device) and it doesn't fix the issue. Sometimes I can make calls, other times I cannot hear anything and the receiver cannot hear me. Sometimes It only works through speaker, its very annoying!

I had a similar issue , where no audio device is found in ihole 7 32 gb. This happen after the update of 12 iOS and of course this is done intentionally by apple so that customer are forced to buy new phone.

I wasted my half a day at apple store to solve my problem and figure out this.

Apple run out of ideas to introduce into the new phones which attract ,new and exisiting customers to buy new iPhones. Instead they are starting to do these dodgy practices to sell new phones.

I believe there will be a downtime coming soon for apple so as that happen to Nokia. I am as much disappointed with apple as all the other folks are here.

Have same issue with my iPhone 7 and I totally agree that the issue is related to certain software update and Apple should acknowledge and fix this issue. Maybe some lawyers are reading this forum and can start class action lawsuit as that seams to be only way we can get Apple’s attention. They are not listing to their customers anymore.

my iPhone 7 256gb got disable microphone, reset several times, fail. Went to apple store, they detected logic board. However warranty were expired, no insurance no apple care, because I cut my budget. They only solve is swap it for $319 swap it or upgrade $250 off.

So is this Apple company’s game to get profit out of random iPhone 7 users to buy their product? This is so wrong.. who made update? Suppose they replace their damage instead of us!

If someone comes on here and says that they're a third-party shop and they can fix it, think twice. If this was such a common problem, don't you think Apple would have reached out to everyone that owns an iPhone 7 / 7+ and recalled the devices for a massive design defect? If the manufacturer can't fix it, then how can some measly third-party shop do it? Exactly.

This has to be a software issue, 100% not an issue with several pads under the audio codec chip on the logic board that are poorly adhered and tend to break. It's clearly not that. All of these many, many people saying that this is repairable don't know the first thing about phone repair. iPhone logic boards are not serviceable. No matter what YouTube tells you, you can't fix this problem in about an hour.

This reminds me of all the people claiming "oh yeah, the charging port just plugs in". It's soldered to the board idiots, ask Apple.

At this point, there is nothing we can do. Apple does offer trade in value for iphone 7 for $250 and 7 plus for $300 if you are to buy a new phone. If you are to get gift card, it will be lower.

And keep this in mind very very securely, THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO FIX AN IPHONE LOGIC BOARD, nothing, absolutely nothing. And if anyone tell you or offer any suggestion or attemp to fix the phone, they are LYING. Their post will get deleted and possibly account banned. I hope you know what I mean.

True... I had watched YouTube about tear down and resembles, not worth it. The logic board has to be 100% apple certified. Any false china made logic boards are junk!

I don't want to risk my time for repair on this.

I own iPhone 7 256gb and waste... I notice a weird thing facetime finally work once a day, then fail on the next day.

My friend told me only the best way to keep trading to a newer iPhone to prevent adding updating iOS. Notice that iOS love to eating up the older iPhone if you don't update from the computer.

I had notice the strangest issue. Since my iPhone 7 have trouble with microphone because of logic board. Guess what.. when i plug lightening cable charger to my 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 as it already paired with Bluetooth there. Microphone as FaceTime seem work. While I stay on FaceTime and unplugged to go walk into store and still connection. After hang up, then try to call again and then back to old problem again.

So what’s sup with that? Maybe try yourself plug your iPhone to your car or truck that was paired to your automotive radio station something like that. Let me know if that familiar...

I have the same issue. Booked an appointment and went to meet service guys in store. Told me same bullshit that software update opened up the hardware issue that was not detected by previous IOS versions. got the quote of CAD420+ tax to repair the phone. talked with the senior adviser on phone and gave me same story. Have 5 Apple devices in my house and been using Apple devices for years. Looks like not any more. Thank you Apple for not taking care of your loyal customers.

I just came back from the Apple Store in Amsterdam. Same issue, no audio devices found. Same answer: Not reparable, and they offered me the same phone, but then new, for €280,- excl tax. A phone that costed more than €800,- new about 26 months ago, is now worthless. So much for buying Apple computers my entire life (also when it wasn't that mainstream yet).

What's interesting, is that the guy at Apple even acknowledged it's a mistake from Apple, and he admitted he didn't understand why there is no replacement program. Apple needs to replace these iPhones with the same model, or at least a refurbished one.

That might be because when you get a new device from Apple through Apple Care, it's an Apple Certified Refurbished device, not a brand new device. This is the case with any phone insurance, and not persé a bad thing, after all these devices have been checked and should be working perfectly. At least you would expect that it works perfect, but the unofficial knowledge that goes around is that from using the iPhone 7 for several months / years, the connection between the motherboard and the audio chip 'shakes loose'. I do however know people that have had the iPhone 7 for several years by now and never had the issue. So, simply return it again and hope you'll get a device without this issue next time. Obviously you shouldn't have to pay for anything when replacing it on such short notice.

I gave up fighting this issue, left my iPhone 7 (out of warranty) with the mic issue for what it is, and bought a new iPhone XS.
