Help!! What do I do when SOME of my tones appear greyed out (even though I dragged them all on at once and they all worked on this phone in the past)?


I recently reset my brand new iPhone XS and lost all the "tones" in my folder (yes, I did back up everything). No big deal because I had them all in a folder. So I dragged 33 tones onto my Tones folder in iTunes and only 6 appeared in black and synced to my phone. The rest are greyed out and do not sync. I tried deleting and adding one at a time but have the same problem.

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately it didn't work. In fact, it's now worse. Before I had SOME ringtones that weren't greyed out... now they are all greyed out. On a sidenote, all of them are on my iPod. Is there a way to download those off my iPod and put them on my iPhone???


I will contact Apple Support later. We've had a death in the family and I don't have the time or gumption right now. Thank you for all your suggestions!! I appreciate it when my questions are not ignored! :-)

I do have a backup copy of the ringtones on my computer! What I failed to express was that when I first got the new iphone, I lost several ringtones altogether. I discovered that THOSE are on my ipod and now have figured how to get them onto my computer - but like the others, they are greyed out when I drag them on iTunes. After trying a few more times, I got SOME to show up black, but different ones than before! LOL! I wish iFunbox worked better - it appears to have lots on it but half of it doesn't work right for me.
