Voice over in Final cut pro x 10.4.3

Since I did the update to mojave, my voice over is not working. Microphone is working good with other application, like iMovie so not a hardware issue. The window for recording opens, I can change anything in that including the sliding input volume, nut i don't see the signal from microphone.

Anybody else experiencing this.

It surely looks like FCP X is not being allowed to use the Microphone.

At this point, I would try downloading a fresh copy from the App Store, in the hopes that when it is started it will ask permission, you allow it, and all works from there.

Unfortunately I don't know of any way to force an application to ask permission. It was supposed to have happened the first time you tried this in Mojave, no idea why that failed.

The first time I used voiceover recording in FCP X after upgrading to Mojave I got the alert that FIinal Cut Pro wanted to use the microphone. I clicked Allow and it is working fine; the application appears under System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Microphone

If for some reason this alert failed to appear or you did not allow it the application will not be able to use the microphone.

Unfortunately it is not obvious how to fix it. Contrary to so many other places in System Preferences this one does not have a “+” button so you can’t just add it manually. I am sure there is a way, but I don’t know what that is yet.

I have some news here related to this voice over in FCP.

I spoke with a representative few weeks ago, which he confirmed the issue and submitted a ticket to FCP team. This suppose to be solved on next update of FCP. Also I did reported the problem on FCP feedback. Meantime I rolled back to Sierra and I used FCP with no issues.

Few days ago I found an update so I was happy that now I can get Mojave and try the new updated FCP. For my disappointment FCP 10.4.4 has the same issue on Voice over recording on Mojave.

No more comments, I am just accepting the fact that Apple is not what it was once.

Sorry that it is not working for you. This has happened to some users and it is not clear what causes it. However I don’t think that waiting for an update is a solution, because AFAICT voiceover works fine for most users in Mojave. Most likely it is a conflict with something that you have installed.

I would do a clean install of Mojave on a separate drive and test. Almost certainly *that* will work.
