Does Apple TV Gen 1 still connect with iTunes?

If so, how? I have the latest version of iTunes and that's running on my iMac, also up to date re software. I recently discovered the remote for the Apple TV (1st Generation) and whilst that is all running fine it won't connect with the iTunes on my iMac. iTunes simply doesn't show it as a device that I can add!

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Pete

(Yes I know I'm a dinosaur for still having Gen 1 TV but it works and allows you to have the Apple TV as a stand alone box.)

Also, the 1st gen no longer has access to the iTunes store so you won't be able to view any content directly. That model would be considered obsolete so while it may be working fine now, issues may arise (it is 11 year old hardware after all), and it would no longer be supported.

The other models are stand alone for the most part, they are only tied to a computer for home sharing. The 1st gen wasn't meant to be used as a backup or sole place to house media
