how do I control volume on incoming text message notifications

how do I control volume on incoming text message notifications? I can not hear them, and my volume button is up all the way. I can hear phone just fine.

iPhone XS, iOS 12.0.1

When you go to settings>sounds - there is a slider there. Turn that all the way up.

volume on new iphone 12 The volume of the sound for my email and texting notifications is very low, even though i have the ringer turned up all the way. The volume for incoming calls is fine (turned up all the way), but not for texting or email notifications... or when I click the screen down. How do I change this so the volume is much higher for texts, emails, and clicking my screen off?
