Could not sign in to iMessage
Hi,
I'm trying to sign in to iMessage with my Apple ID on mac MacBook Air (I've confirmed it's the right username and password, it worked using App Store and iCloud.com) and whenever I try, I get an error saying "Could not sign in to iMessage. An error occurred during activation. Please try again." I was able to log in using the initial setup form (the first time I opened the application), but when I try to send a message, the contact's name turns red. When I right-click on their name, I get the option to "Enable iMessage for ________" (_______ being my Apple ID). When I click on that, I enter my Apple ID and password again and am greeted with the error.
I do not have an iPhone or a phone number associated with an Apple phone, I only have an email address.
