Yahoo email showing offline with error message, OS High Sierra

Update

I have successfully opened a new email account with Outlook which has loaded up and is working on Mac.

I have deleted all keychain entries for yahoo.

When I attempt to register the BT Yahoo email address it keeps giving me the error message. If I go in to mail/preferences/general

The Yahoo shows in the list as imap, enable account is ticked, but the status is showing offline with a red dot.

Question, when deleting keychain entries, is it just s double click on the entry then delete?

Thank you for your response. Followed instructions and found the email. When you click on it has a box to tick show password. Then it asks for keychain access confidential stored in iCloud. Not sure which password this would be.

This is under the attributes tab.

Really grateful of your help, I’m not the most tech savvy person you will come across.

Out of frustration I have deleted all mail accounts. Yet in mail it is still showing “account error” in the top right hand corner of the second bar.

I have repeated all steps as per your instructions. I can log in via BT Yahoo mail, but not via the Mac mail system.

Hi Yes the key chains atecdeleted.

Still get the error message in mail and no mail.

As previously stated, all working ok on iPhone!
