Can no longer burn cds in itunes

I have, in the past, burned cd's from itunes. Now when I do so, it goes thru the motions- initializing, burning each song, finishing etc. But when I go to play the cd, it reads - you inserted a blank cd. Any ideas on what is happening? Thanks

CD burning from iTunes has been somewhat erratic for several builds now. You may find it helps to reduce the burn speed. Use the context menu from the playlist rather than the File menu. Your optical drive could have failed. Can you try burning with some other software as a test?

I am not too tech savvy. I did reduce the burn speed. I used the context menu from playlist. Still the same. It makes all the motions, sounds, messages that it is copying, but nothing is on the cd when its done. I am using up a lot of cd's because when I try to use a cd I used before and was told it was blank, I get a medium write error. I don't know of any software to use as a test.

thanks for the suggestions

I think the 2 adjustments might have worked. The last cd I tried burning, still reads as blank on the computer but will play the songs on a cd player. I tried previously burned discs on the computer, read as blank. But store bought cds will play on computer. So it may now be burning, but not reading...Going to buy some erasable cds and try again. thanks
