Mac book pro first aid disk utility
Running first aid verification via disk utility but has taken almost 12 hours ... loading bar still moving but is it frozen? Will i lose my data if I force quit?
The checking process is not destructive (it does not write anything). Only if it has moved into the "fixing" phase is there any possibility of telling it to quit while writing anything.
But as others have already observed, that disk is already hurting.
What is the date of your most recent backup?
