Can't remove "viewsearch" pop-up from safari

Hello,

Somehow adware or malware was installed on my computer and every time I start safari, the first page that opens is ""viewsearch" with the name "any search" on the top of the tab. I've tried everything I can find on teh web to remove this and it won't go away - checked/removed any safari extentions, installed and ran malwarebytes, changed safari settings for the homepage & search page, went into .../Library/Application Support & .../Library/LaunchAgents & .../Library/Launch Daemons to remove files & folders that didn't belong. None of these steps have worked. Somewhere the files or instructions to run this thing are hidden somewhere and I'd really like some help to remove it, please. I'm using a macbook with OS version 10.13.6 and Safari verison 12.0.

Thank you,

Tim

MacBook, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6), Safari 12.0

Hi Eric,

I wasn’t quite sure what to do after your last post, but I dug into the search topic a little more and came across a user with the same type of problem mentioned in another Apple support discussion described here:

The solution referenced from the above thread in Twitter is here:

It was exactly what was happening with my Mac as well. Somehow the adware/malware added a new bookmark and bookmark folder that I didn’t notice since it was way down on my list. Simply deleting this bookmark folder did the trick. Thanks so much for your help!
